Product description
Marjoram Pot is a versatile culinary herb cultivated primarily for the aromatic, savoury flavour found in its small, slightly hairy leaves. This robust taste, which sits somewhere between mild sweet marjoram and spicy oregano, is released when the foliage is chopped or dried. It is traditionally used as a staple seasoning for tomato-based sauces, roast meats, and vegetable dishes, adding a warm, Mediterranean depth without the overpowering punch of wild oregano.
This plant is typically grown as a hardy, low-growing sub-shrub that forms a neat mound of foliage, making it perfect for edging paths or filling gaps in the herb garden. Unlike its tender cousin, Sweet Marjoram, it is generally frost-hardy and stays productive for years. For the best results and most concentrated oils, plant it in a location with full sun. It is highly drought-tolerant and demands free-draining, gritty soil, as it will suffer if kept in damp, waterlogged conditions.
Please Note: When purchasing plants please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only - The plant will be supplied in a growers pot.
Garden Plant Size Guide

Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

Top Tip
Marjoram Pot has a much stronger flavour than Sweet Marjoram but is milder than Oregano. To keep the plant productive and the flavour intense, trim it back hard after flowering. This stops it from becoming woody and encourages a fresh flush of tender leaves for the kitchen.
How to Water
Water young plants regularly to help them establish, but do not overdo it. Once mature, Marjoram Pot is a Mediterranean native that prefers to be kept on the drier side. Only water when the soil feels completely dry to the touch, as soggy soil is the quickest way to kill it.
How to Plant
Plant Marjoram Pot in a warm, sunny spot with free-draining soil. It thrives in gritty, slightly alkaline conditions, so if you have heavy clay, mix in plenty of horticultural grit or plant it in a terracotta pot to ensure the roots never sit in water.
