Garden Plant Size Guide

Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

Top Tip
When planting out your Herb Mix, group the plants by their water needs rather than just how they look together. Plant the drought-loving Mediterranean herbs together in the sunniest, driest spots, and keep the thirstier leafy herbs in richer, moister soil to ensure they all thrive.
How to Water
Water the pots immediately after planting to settle them in. Going forward, check the soil with your finger; for leafy herbs, water when the surface is dry, but for woody Mediterranean herbs, allow the soil to dry out almost completely between waterings to prevent root rot.
How to Plant
Dig a hole slightly larger than the 9cm pot and loosen the soil at the base to help roots establish. Gently tease out the roots if they are circling the pot, plant at the same depth they were growing at previously, and firm the soil gently around the base.
