Product description

Offering a softer, more delicate aesthetic, Aubrieta Cascade Blue produces masses of gentle mid-blue flowers on its trailing stems. It excels at creeping through the gravelly gaps of pathways or tumbling down the sides of raised beds to seamlessly blur the hard lines between masonry and planting zones.

Ensure the planting site is heavily fortified with coarse sand to guarantee rapid, flawless drainage away from the crown. Maintain a strict dry-dirt policy, and easily multiply your stock by pinning a trailing stem directly into the adjacent grit until it forms its own independent root system.

Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.

Instructions

Top Tip

You can easily propagate new patches of Aubrieta Cascade Blue by gently pinning one of its trailing stems directly into the adjacent soil. Cover the middle of the pinned stem with a handful of grit and leave it attached to the parent plant until roots form. Once it roots, sever the connection, and you have a brand new, free blue creeper to move elsewhere.

How to Water

Give Aubrieta Cascade Blue a targeted soaking right at the base to help it grip the sandy pathway edges. Moving forward, maintain a strict "dry-dirt" policy, only offering water if the cascading mat begins to physically wilt. Constant dampness around the base will quickly invite devastating winter rot to destroy the entire plant.

How to Plant

Wedge Aubrieta Cascade Blue into the gaps of a sunny stone pathway where its soft mid-blue flowers can soften the hardscape. Ensure the earth beneath it is heavily amended with sharp sand to guarantee flawless drainage. Press the roots in tight, ensuring the central crown sits just above the gravel line to breathe.
