Product description

Standing taller than many of its relatives, Aquilegia Yellow Queen makes a dramatic architectural statement with its towering stalks and bright, golden-yellow blooms. It excels at naturalising through woodland-style garden designs, acting as a brilliant beacon of light in darker, shadowed corners.

Provide this towering perennial with a rich, loamy soil base and plenty of lateral space to accommodate its mature height. Keep the ground consistently moist, and allow a few dry seed pods to remain on the stalk if you want it to drop seeds and multiply naturally across the earth.

Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.

Instructions

Top Tip

You can easily propagate Aquilegia Yellow Queen by allowing just one or two crisp, brown seed pods to remain on the stalk at the end of its cycle. Harvest these pods manually and scatter the contents into loose earth nearby. This guarantees a fresh generation of bright golden columbines will naturally replace the parent over time.

How to Water

Drench the planting site of Aquilegia Yellow Queen deeply to bind the fresh soil directly to its root system. Allow the earth to slightly dry out between hydration sessions, ensuring it never sits in a stagnant puddle. Always water at the base, as heavy overhead droplets can physically damage the bright yellow petals.

How to Plant

Find a partially shaded spot where the towering golden stalks of Aquilegia Yellow Queen can act as a bright focal point. Excavate a generous hole, breaking up any heavy clods of earth to allow the roots downward mobility. Press the amended soil gently around the base to keep the tall stems structurally secure.
