Product Description
Rootgrow Mycorrhizal Fungi is an essential product that helps establish your plants, made with mycorrhizal fungi, a micro-organism with which trees have had a symbiotic relationship for millions of years. Once your plants are in the ground, it will develop a highly-active secondary root system, with the explicit purpose of exponentially increasing the uptake of water and nutrients, everything needed in order to allow your plants to flourish.
Characteristics: Vivid young glossy bright red leaves with finely serrated edges. Clusters of white flowers in spring. Evergreen.
Flowering: Ivory white flowers in mid spring.
Height and Spread: 4m / 4m. Screening tree. Can be pruned into a hedge.
Hardiness and Best Position: Hardy, frost hardy to -8°C. Sheltered position is best
Soil: Fertile, well drained soil.
Add all-year round interest to your garden with the lovely Photinia x fraseri 'Red Robin'. The Red Robin offers elliptic leaves that have finely serrated edges. The new and fresh foliage bursts through in a brilliant glossy red colour, giving the plant its name. Over time, the leaves will mature to a luscious dark green. The new red foliage however, creates a striking contrast in spring as it pushes through the green.
In mid-spring, clusters of attractive ivory white flowers appear. In autumn the leaves turn to a bronze green. This tree is evergreen, adding to its year round appeal and keeping it interesting in winter when other plants are stark and bare.
The Red Robin is hardy and will endure frost conditions down to -8°C. It thrives well in fertile, well drained soil. To achieve the best leaf colour and the most flowers, plant in full sun with some shelter.
Get creative! The versatile Red Robin tree can be planted as a single ornamental specimen tree. Plant it next to a garden water feature or in a forgotten corner where it will add life and colour. Red Robbins can also be planted in a close row and pruned to create a stunning, vibrant red-hued hedge. The tree can be clipped into a specific shape, adding a unique touch to your garden. You can use them as screening along a back or side garden border for privacy.
