Characteristics: Deciduous shrub, wide spreading, mulberry variety, berries that are edible when ripe, good for hedging, wildlife friendly
Plant advice: Your Morus bombycis will thrive in a location that benefits from full sun or partial shade. Use light humus soil composed of Sand or Loam. Feed regularly for the best performance.
Morus bombycis ‘Shin-Tso’ is a deciduous fruiting shrub with green serrated leaves and sweet reddish-black edible fruit that are rich in vitamins – you can expect these to appear from the beginning of July to the end of August. The berries bear a richly sweet and sour flavour, and this mulberry variety is ascribed to be one of the best tasting ones.
Also called Japanese mulberry or Mountain mulberry, the plant exhibits a spreading habit and can reach a width of 5m. Will suit being shaped as a hedge for a living fence that wildlife can benefit from and use as a food source.
Please Note: When purchasing plants please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only - The plant will be supplied in a growers pot.
