Leucanthemum Luna is a vigorous hybrid between two species: Leucanthemum and Superbum. Also known as Shasta Daisy, it is a compact, clump-forming, herbaceous perennial with inversely lance-shaped, dark green basal leaves. Its large, showy, pom-poms of double, yellow flowers with multi-layered petals and a darker yellow centre, stay yellow for a few weeks and gradually change to a two-toned yellow and eventually fade away to white. The flowers start to appear in early Summer and continue to be produced right into Autumn. These plants are well branched and the flower stalks can reach up to 65cm. They are ideal for planting at the back of beds, they will look great potted around your patio and make excellent cut flowers.
Cut back dead flower spikes to encourage repeat flowering throughout the Summer. In more windy coastal positions, the plants may need some metal supports to keep them upright and to stop them from flopping open. Easy to propagate by division and divide every 3-4 years.
