Characteristics: Kniphofia Poco Orange plants, commonly known as Red Hot Poker plants, are a type of herbaceous perennial plants with clumps of grassy, green foliage and tall spikes of tubular shaped orange flowers.
Growth and Spread: These garden plants can reach an ultimate height and spread of approximately 0.3-0.6 metres.
Care and Maintenance: Plant in moist, well-drained soil, ideally loamy or sandy although it will tolerate most soil types well. Although it can grow well in partial sun, flowers will bloom best in full sun.
Period of Interest: During milder winters, foliage can remain all year round, whilst flowers begin to bloom in midsummer and continue to bloom until the early autumn months.
Kniphofia Poco Orange, commonly known as a variety of Red Hot Poker, are perennial garden shrubs with clumps of upright, slender, green leaves which are accompanied from midsummer until early autumn by tall spikes of vibrant orange flowers in a unique, tubular shape.
Plant this Red Hot poker plant in moist, well-drained soil in full sun where it will grow and flower best. These make fabulous border and bedding plants and make particularly great ground cover plants if they are planted en masse.
