Characteristics: This main crop Seed Potato variety is popular due to its lovely taste and floury texture. This makes 'Kerr's Pink' perfect for mashing, as well as other culinary uses. Each tuber is short and oval-shaped with creamy flesh and gorgeous, pink skins. It also has good resistance to blight and slugs.
Harvesting Period: 'Kerr's Pink' will harvest in the months of August - October.
Planting Advice: Main crop potatoes should be planted in late March. If potatoes have been previously grown for two years in succession, avoid planting in the same plot. Instead, an area that is sheltered with full sun and moist, well-drained soil is recommended. However, if space is limited, they can also be grown in potato bags on a patio.
Care & Maintenance: Keep main crop potatoes away from frost pockets and ensure sunlight is present as much as possible. You should water them regularly, aiming to keep the soil moist and well-drained throughout their growth. Main crop varieties will also benefit from a nitrogenous fertiliser when you earth them up for the second time.

When you grow Main Crop Seed Potatoes, you should avoid planting them in the same plot where potatoes have been grown for two years in succession. The area should be sheltered with full sunlight, moist, well-drained soil and well rotted manure all present. The potatoes should be planted in rows, spaced out by 45cm. The rows themselves should be spaced out by 75cm. Then, plant the seed potatoes in 10cm deep holes and refill them with soil. Once their shoots reach 20cm, mound up the soil around the shoots. Repeat this process after another 3 weeks of growth.
