Characteristics: A dense, bushy, flowering, evergreen shrub with glossy, dark-green foliage. Produces large clusters of cup-shaped, white flowers with a maroon centre and markings.
Growth and Spread: Ultimate height and spread of 1.5m.
Period of Interest: Year-round foliage interest. Produces clusters of white flowers with red markings from May to July.
Water and Maintenance: Plant in a position with partial or full sun. Grow in fertile, moist, well-drained, acidic soil.
Kalmia latifolia Bumblebee, known commonly as Calico Bush or Mountain Laurel, is a striking evergreen shrub with dense, glossy, dark-green foliage. From May to July, this variety produces large clusters of distinctive cup shaped, white flowers, with deep red centres and markings.
Plant in a position with partial shade. Grow in fertile, moist, well-drained, acidic soil. Ideal plant for the back of beds or borders, or as a feature plant in an informal garden.
