Albert Bartlett 'Isle of Jura' Main Crop Seed Potatoes are a versatile variety of seed potato, full of excellent flavour. As well as that, its smooth texture and light yellow skin are more of its great qualities, whilst it is also ideal for boiling, baking, roasting and making tasty wedges or mash. They should be planted in late March and will harvest in the months of August - October. Place them in a sheltered plot of the garden in moist, well-drained soil. If space is limited, growing them in potato bags is another suitable option.
You should avoid planting them in the same plot where potatoes have been grown for two years in succession. Full sunlight, moist, well-drained soil and well rotted manure is recommended. The potatoes should be planted in rows, spaced out by 45cm. The rows themselves should be spaced out by 75cm. Then, plant the seed potatoes in 10cm deep holes and refill them with soil. Once their shoots reach 20cm, mound up the soil around the shoots. Repeat this process after another 3 weeks of growth.
