Characteristics: Ornamental evergreen climbing ivy, bearing small, three to five lobed grey-green leaves with silver-grey and cream markings. Mature plants bear clusters of small yellow-green flowers are followed by black berries.
Growth & Spread: The ultimate height and spread can reach up to 2m.
Period of Interest: Winter interest with yellowish-green autumn flowers.
Water & Maintenance: Water regularly during the growing season. Plants may be pruned at any time of the year to keep within bounds.
Hedera Helix Glacier is a particularly ornamental climbing ivy, bearing small grey-green leaves with silver-grey and cream markings. Mature plants have clusters of very small yellowish-green autumn flowers followed by black berries. It is particularly useful to cover shady walls and perfect for covering pergola poles. Use young plants to spill around winter hanging baskets.
This ivy is easily grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils in part to full shade but it will also tolerate full sun. It's a valuable wildlife plant providing late nectar and pollen for insects and berries for winter birds.
