• Characteristics: Hakonechloa macra is a deciduous, grassy shrub that, in the Spring and Summer months, produces bright green leaves that form in a tufted habit. Included in those warmer months is the addition of green flowers as Summer draws to a close. In the Autumn and Winter periods of the year, red-brown tints will begin to show in the foliage. Due to the plants deciduous nature, it will lose its leaves later in the year, before returning with fresh new foliage in Spring.
• Plant Advice: Hakonechloa should be planted in moist, well-drained soil and kept in full sun at the best of times. Watering should be done on a frequent basis to ensure the growth of the plant is consistent and maintained well. Overwatering should be avoided so that the plant doesn't drown in moisture.

Hakonechloa macra is a deciduous, grassy shrub that has a vast amount of bright green leaves. This eye-catching feature will begin to form in Spring and follow through into the Summer months. In the warmer months of the year, green flowers will also be added into the equation. Then, in Autumn and Winter, a red-brown tint will show from the foliage, bringing a difference to its appearance later in the year. Hakonechloa should be planted in moist, well-drained soil and exposed to full sunlight. Water the plant frequently so that growth is maintained consistently but, most importantly, avoid overwatering the plant as this will cause adverse effects in the long term.
