Characteristics: Semi-evergreen perennial with a trailing habit. Bears narrow, green leaves and gorgeous, funnel-shaped, blue flowers with white stripes. Flowers will begin to bloom in Autumn, bringing a rich burst of colour to your garden.
Period of Interest: Green foliage appears in Summer, carrying through to Autumn when it is joined by funnel-shaped, rich blue and white flowers.
Ultimate Height & Spread: Up to 10cm in height and up to 50cm in spread, over the course of 2-5 years.
Plant Advice: Full sun or partial shade and moist, well-drained soil is preferred. Water regularly until it is established as it will tolerate periods of drought after this.
Gentiana sino-ornata Blue is a semi-evergreen perennial with narrow, green leaves. Its blue flowers are the main attraction, forming in a funnel-shaped manner from mid-Autumn. White striping also appears on each flowerhead, enhancing the appearance of this variety. Its mix of gorgeous colour makes it a lovely addition to any garden, especially within pots, borders, bedding and colourful plant displays.
Commonly known as Showy Chinese Gentian, this particular species is easy to grow and relatively low maintenance. Its trailing habit can be managed, taking minimal effort to maintain. Placing the plant in full sun or partial shade and planting it in moist, well-drained soil is ideal. If conditions get extremely hot, the plant should then be sheltered. Water regularly until established.
