Characteristics: A shrub with dark green foliage with fragrant pink flowers blooming from Spring to Summer and bright red cranberries in mid-Autumn.
Growth and spread: Can reach 1-2ft. in height and spread of 1-3ft.
Period of interest: Foliage accompanies flowers which bloom in Summer and are followed by an abundance of fresh berries by mid-Autumn.
Water and maintenance: Requires a minimum of 6 hours of direct light per day and prefers alkaline, moist soil. Does not require frequent watering, although soil should be kept moist at all times - not wet.
Vaccinium macrocarpon 'Stevens', commonly known as Stevens Cranberry, makes an excellent plant for both the culinary or ornamental garden. It's dark green leaves will turn into beautiful bronze or red in winter. In Spring, they will be filled with stunning white flowers, turning to a soft, fragrant pink by summer, and producing an abundance of bright red berries by mid-Autumn.
Growing to an ultimate heigh of up to 1-2ft. and a width of 1-3ft., Vaccinium macrocarpon Stevens makes a great addition to any garden. The berries are perfect for making jams, desserts and drinks, but the shrub itself will also provide beautiful ground cover, or can also be used in hanging baskets or planters for a stunning cascading effect.
