• Characteristics: Our Cotinus ‘Candy Floss’ variety is a low maintenance deciduous garden bush that’s perfect for groups and shrub borders. It’ll grow upright when young, then begin to spread. It grows fuzzy, wispy pink flowers and foliage that turns to a brilliant mix of reds, oranges and purples in autumn.
• Plant advice: The effective, showy Cotinus will thrive in a space that’s exposed to full sun or partial shade. The shrub prefers a moist, well-drained and moderately fertile soil. It’ll tolerate most soils, but ideally it is best to lean towards a sandy, loamy, chalky or clay type. The brush will require very little upkeep, however to aid its growth and tidy shape, we recommend you prune any dead, bent or diseased branches come late winter/early spring. Water thoroughly until established, especially during dry weather. Please note: As this shrub is deciduous, it will lose all its foliage towards the end of autumn, and fresh new leaves will appear again each spring.
