Product Description
Rootgrow Mycorrhizal Fungi is an essential product that helps establish your plants, made with mycorrhizal fungi, a micro-organism with which trees have had a symbiotic relationship for millions of years. Once your plants are in the ground, it will develop a highly-active secondary root system, with the explicit purpose of exponentially increasing the uptake of water and nutrients, everything needed in order to allow your plants to flourish.
Characteristics: A hardy, deciduous, densely branched shrub with abundant clusters of rich pink flowers followed by apple-like, yellow and fragrant fruits. Excellent for mixed shrub borders.
Growth & Spread: Can reach an ultimate height of 2m and spread of 1.5m.
Period of Interest: Pink flowers in March to May. Golden-green fruits in autumn.
Water & Maintenance: Likes occasional watering. Very low maintenance, it will only need a light prune after flowering each year.
Chaenomeles 'Pink Lady' is a delightful, spreading, deciduous shrub. In early spring it shows off deep coral pink, cup-shaped flowers that are borne on thorny branches with glossy, mid-green leaves. In autumn the flowers are replaced by golden-green, fragrant fruits that can be made into jellies and preserves. This is a truly wonderful Japanese Quince variety, perfect for training against a wall or fence and it makes a useful, impenetrable ground-cover.
Plant in moderately fertile, well-drained soil and in sun or partial shade. It will only require occasional watering. After flowering prune side-shoots to five or six leaves and remove crossing or ill-placed stems. Once established remove excess growth in late spring or summer and cut back all side-shoots to two or three leaves.
