Product Description
Rootgrow Mycorrhizal Fungi is an essential product that helps establish your plants, made with mycorrhizal fungi, a micro-organism with which trees have had a symbiotic relationship for millions of years. Once your plants are in the ground, it will develop a highly-active secondary root system, with the explicit purpose of exponentially increasing the uptake of water and nutrients, everything needed in order to allow your plants to flourish.
Characteristics: An excellent and compact groundcover shrub with springtime white blooms and edible fruits.
Growth & Spread: The rate of growth is moderate and will grow to a height and spread of about 1.0 to 1.25 m.
Flourishing Season: Flowers in March through May and followed by green fruit with occasional streaks of red.
Water & Maintenance: Water until established. Can tolerate some dryness, but weekly watering is suggested during drier periods.
The “Jet Trail” is a compact, deciduous shrub that prefers full sun to partial shade. Full sun will encourage the plant to produce more blooms and fruit. The elongated, oval leaves are dark green and slightly shiny. It is an overall hardy plant that can tolerate very harsh winter temperatures which reach down to -20⁰ C.
The beautiful, clean-white flowers are approximately 4 cm across. The five-petaled flowers appear in bunches throughout the main plant. The fruit follows later in the summer season.
The blooms attract bees and butterflies in the spring and then later birds come for the fruit production. In addition to attracting a variety of pollinators, it has a long bloom season which is ideal for fresh cut flowers.
The plant has thorns and can be used as a low hedge or other border fence. It has suckers which will encourage spread, trim and remove accordingly.
It is best pruned lightly after the flowering season, however, this will affect that season’s fruit production. The fresh fruit is tart and is best used in recipes for jams and jellies.
