Carrot Autumn King, as suggested by its name, is a late maturing variety of carrot offering high yields of vegetables from late August onwards. The plant produces large, tapered, bright-orange roots, known for their sturdiness and reliability. The vegetables have a lovely flavour, and they keep well, when left in the ground or stored properly.
Sow from March to June. To grow perfectly straight carrots, make a deep narrow hole, fill with stone free compost and sow the seeds on top. Plant in full sun in a stone-free, fertile, moisture retentive soil. Carrots require deep soil, as their roots grow downwards. Harvest from August to January. Harvest around 12 weeks after sowing date. Roots can be left in the ground or stored in sand over winter, where they will be kept well for up to 4 months.
