It is such a pleasant view to watch masses of Buddleja ‘Buzz Velvet’ flowers in a garden. On a sunny afternoon, the honey scent from the red-purple flowers will call for butterflies and hummingbirds. These healthy, hardy deciduous shrubs look very perky, planted on a patio or as a sunny flower border.
Buzz Velvet is also known as the ‘Butterfly Bush’ since it a popular source of sweet nectar for bumble bees, butterflies, other pollinators and garden wildlife. These flowering bushes will grow up to 1.5 metres height. Their compact growing habit will ensure they do not take over your garden space.
Buzz Velvet Butterfly Bush is non-invasive and grows resistant to droughts in dry seasons. New plants will need more care, but generally regular watering and all-purpose organic fertilizer will suffice.
Once established, these shrubs become hardy and will cast a beautiful floral display every summer and autumn. Buddleja Buzz Velvet thrives in a sheltered sunny spot, planted in a well-drained average soil.
These flowering plants are perfect for a patio, or to decorate flower borders. You can also plant them in garden containers. The arching branches of Buzz Velvet are covered with grey-green leaves, adding a stunning contrast to the cone-shaped clusters of red-purple flowers.
This combination results in a fountain of gorgeous flowers planted in container pots. Deadheading Buddleja Buzz Velvet is important to encourage new blooms.
