• Characteristics: Upright evergreen fern with arching stems carrying red-bronze leaves maturing to green.
• Growth & Spread: Ultimate height 1 – 1.5m and spread of 0.5 – 1m.
• Period of Interest: Year-round interest. Fresh foliage is striking red in Spring before maturing to bronze and then green through Autumn and Winter.
• Plant Advice: Plant in moist, well-drained soil. Grows best in full or partial sun. Susceptible to cold and frost and should be kept well sheltered.

The Blechnum ‘Volcano’, more commonly known as the Dwarf Brazilian tree is an exotic take on the standard garden fern, providing a stunning hue of colours and visuals all year-round. The tall arching stems bear large, glossy leaves which emerge with a strong pink-red colour and mature to bronze and then green.

Plant in humus-rich, well-drained soil. Water regularly. Be wary of the colder months and provide adequate shelter through mulching and compost. Sensitive to cold and frost and may suffer damage from watering too heavily in Winter. May be kept under glass to protect from harsh weather.
