• Characteristics: Compact, deciduous shrub with thornless canes carrying serrated, mid-green foliage and white flowers followed by a reliable cropping of large, sweet blackberries.
• Growth & Spread: Ultimate height and spread of 1 – 2m.
• Period of Interest: Summer interest. White flowers bloom from mid-Summer followed by clusters of large, glossy blackberries with sharp, sweet flavour around late Summer.
• Water & Maintenance: Plant in moist, well-drained, fertile soil. Keep in full or partial sun. Water regularly until established. Avoiding waterlogging. May require supports.

A more compact thornless variety well suited to smaller gardens. The Rubus ‘Merton Thornless’ consists of upright-to-arching canes carrying toothed, mid-green leaves and small white flowers in Summer. A slow grower and late season fruiting plant with a medium yield of glossy blackberries around late Summer and into the Autumn.

Plant in moist, well-drained, neutral soil and keep in full or partial sun. Water regularly until properly established but avoid waterlogging. Some longer canes may require supports. Heat tolerant.
