• Characteristics: Deciduous perennial, clusters of flowers in dark maroon and purple, lance shaped dark green leaves, blooms through summer and autumn, hardy, low maintenance
• Period of interest: Summer and autumn. Distinctive dark maroon purple flowers bloom in June with flowering lasting until late autumn.
• Care and Maintenance: Alstroemeria Inticancha® Dark Purple flourishes best when planted in fertile, moist but well drained soil in a sunny or partially sunny spot. Young plants should be left undisturbed to develop into clumps and should be provided with mulch cover for the first two winters. Remove stems after flowering but leave tubers in the ground. Alstroemeria Inticancha® Dark Purple may be damaged by slugs.

Commonly known as Peruvian Lily, Alstroemeria Inticancha® Dark Purple is a clump forming herbaceous perennial with exotic colouring that adds interest and texture to any setting. Its striking maroon purple flowers bloom from early summer to mid autumn with open clusters of funnel shaped flowers creating a dramatic appearance. Dark green leaves grow up the stem producing a rich, full effect.

With a maximum height and width of 0.5m, Alstroemeria Inticancha® Dark Purple is ideal for planting in flower beds and containers. It is well suited for flower arranging and the stems can be cut and brought indoors to enjoy. The plant will reach is full maturity and growth within around 2-5 years.

Alstroemeria Inticancha® Dark Purple is a relatively low maintenance plant that can withstand cold temperatures to around -5°C. It can cope with an exposed position but prefers to be sheltered from the worst of the elements. Despite its dark hues, this plant will attract bees and other pollinators into the garden.

Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.
