Characteristics: Compact, mat-forming perennial plant with finely divided, feathery leaves of mid-green and clusters of flat-headed red flowers in Summer.
Growth & Spread: Ultimate height and spread of 0.5 Ð 1m.
Period of Interest: Summer interest. Mildly scented foliage and branching stalks bearing flat panicles of small, rich red flowers throughout the Summer.
Water & Maintenance: Plant in moist, well-drained soil. Keep in full sun in exposed position. Hardy and tolerant of most conditions including drought. Well suited to most soil types aside from heavy, overly wet soils.
A hardy herbaceous perennial shrub with interesting mat-forming foliage and brightly coloured Summer blooms. The Achillea Red Velvet, also known as Yarrow, is a somewhat compact cultivar with finely divided green leaves resembling feathers which emit a pleasant, mild scent. Above the foliage stand branching stems which hold flat clusters of small, bright red flowers throughout the Summer months.
Plant in moderately moist, well-drained soils and keep in full sun in an open, exposed position in the garden. Tolerant of most conditions and drought tolerant once established. Not suited to heavy, overly wet soils which can cause the plant to droop.
