Vivaldi - Albert Bartlett Seed Potatoes (Second Early)

• Characteristics: This second early variety of Albert Bartlett Seed Potato is well known for its ability to produce a high yield of potatoes. 'Vivaldi' has light yellow skin, a velvety texture and bears a lovely taste when used in salads to serve with main dishes.
• Harvesting Period: 'Vivaldi' will harvest in the months of July - August.
• Planting Advice: Chitting before planting is advised until the sprout is about 3cm long. Plant in potato bags or in the ground. Draw soil over or cover the stems and tubers to avoid frost and light damage and help development.
• Care & Maintenance: Keep seed potatoes away from frost pockets and ensure sunlight is present as much as possible. You should water them regularly, aiming to keep the soil moist and well-drained throughout their growth.

Albert Bartlett 'Vivaldi' Second Early Seed Potatoes have become well known for their production of a high potato yield when they harvest. Each potato bears light yellow skin, a velvety texture and a lovely taste when used in salads to serve with main dishes. This firm, multi-purpose variety will also hold their shape whether they are hot or cold. Plant them in March and harvest from July - August. Place them in a sheltered plot of the garden in moist, well-drained soil. If space is limited, growing them in potato bags is also suitable.

Second early varieties are chitted between 2-6 weeks before planting. Keep the rounded, blunt end of the seed potato facing upwards and under full sun. Once the shoots are around 3cm long (1 inch), move them into their final position - the ground or in potato bags. Plant them in a sunny spot as they're susceptible to frost damage so some organic mulch is advised. As they grow, mound the soil around the tubers or cover them with a layer of black polythene to keep them protected from frost. Water regularly.
