SEASONAL AVAILABILITY: Bare Root plants are supplied from late November until Spring the following year.
CHARACTERISTICS: Pinus Sylvestris, commonly known as Scots Pine, are coniferous evergreen trees with dense, blue-green, needle-like leaves. Red or yellow flowers make way for grey-brown cones.
HEIGHT AND SPREAD: Supplied in a dormant state, these outdoor shrubs can grow to an approximate height of around 35 metres when mature but can be pruned to remain at hedge height.
PLANTING TIPS: Bare-Root hedging is typically planted in a double staggered row of 5 plants per metre. Evergreen plants are generally planted to less density than deciduous plants, such is the nature of their dense foliage.
Pinus Sylvestris, commonly known as Scots Pine, are evergreen garden trees which can also be grown well as hedging plants. Blue-green needle-like foliage grows densely on slightly spreading branches. Flowers bloom and make way for egg-shaped cones which hang delicately from the branches.
Scots Pine, the national tree of Scotland, looks fabulous as hedging with its attractive foliage, which also acts as a wind break in gardens. They are often used as Christmas trees too, or cuttings can be used in other Christmas decorations like wreaths and garlands.
