Product Description
Rootgrow Mycorrhizal Fungi is an essential product that helps establish your plants, made with mycorrhizal fungi, a micro-organism with which trees have had a symbiotic relationship for millions of years. Once your plants are in the ground, it will develop a highly-active secondary root system, with the explicit purpose of exponentially increasing the uptake of water and nutrients, everything needed in order to allow your plants to flourish.
This evergreen varietal of milkwort presents splendidly contrasting blooms in the spring and summer months. Hardy to most temperatures in the UK. It is also known as creeping milkwort as it is a type of mat-forming plant.
During the summer months, impressive flowers spring from the bunches of narrow, lanceolate-shaped leaves. These flowers are shaped like a pea and have vibrant pink coloured exterior petals in which nestles a golden-yolk coloured stigmatic lobe.
These plants work well as a form of ground cover and given the right conditions can spread quickly. Sometimes because of their ability to cover an area, they are known as “shrublets”, although not quite tall enough to be a shrub, but with the vigor to try and be one.
This polygala is hardy to zone H4, meaning they are typically able to handle a winter down to around -10⁰ C. Although they should remain sheltered and probably can tolerate more if they are better protected and mulched.
They are generally pest- and disease-free, although they can experience problems with certain types of aphids and mites.
Having adapted to drier climates, these plants are put to good use in planters and tubs, as well as colorful additions to decorative rock gardens. But they do not like extremely hot and humid summers.
