“Mountain Fire” is a beautiful evergreen noted for its vibrantly red-coloured new foliage. Later in the growing season, these brilliant reds transition to from pinks and whites to a lovely deep-green colour. These glossy green leaves are obovate and approximately 7 to 9 cm long.
Later in mid-spring, but along with some of these gorgeous red leaves, arrive small, urn-shaped flowers on racemes hanging throughout the plant. These flowers are also fragrant.
Tending towards a bushy habit, this shrub is brilliant in the spring and provides lovely year-round green notes. It prefers more acidic soils and is good to companion plant with other acidic-loving shrubs and plants. They prefer sheltered areas with full to partial shade.
Hardy in most of the UK. This plant performs well as a beautiful accent in landscape settings and sloped areas as long as the ground is well-drained and moist. They also do well in smaller gardens in city settings and for use in courtyards.
