Oregano, also known as English Marjoram, is grown for its strong, pungent leaves that bear a punchy taste when used in cooking. The edible green foliage is ovate and has an aromatic scent to it, which is joined by clusters of lovely, small pink flowers in Summer and early Autumn.

When fresh, the leaves can be used in a variety of foods, including soups and stews, whilst it also goes particularly well with tomatoes, aubergine and more. This is an important herb in Italian, Greek and Mexican cooking, making it more than suitable for a range of cultures and cuisines.

Many people enjoy this bold, earthy and fragrant herb as it adds a ton of flavour to many foods. If you or someone you know like an extra peppery bite in meals, this may well be the perfect option.
