Apple Bramleys Seedling (Culinary) is an acidic juicy apple, ideal for cooking. It has a fabulous creamy flesh which is perfect for apple pies, crumbles, tarte tatins and other apple desserts. It cooks down to a great apple sauce that can be served with a classic pork roast. This is your ultimate English cooking apple! The fruits are easily recognisable, they are large and have a yellowish-green colour, with a red flush in broad, broken stripes.
Apple Bramleys produce heavy crops of fruit which are ready for picking in mid October. Plant your tree in an open, sunny area if possible. This is a triploid tree, which means that it needs pollinating partners. You can choose to have two different pollinating apple trees or one self-fertile tree. Your Apple Bramley is a fast growing tree with a spreading habit. It has large branches that are smothered with dark green leaves in summer and offers a wonderful display of light pink flowers in the spring.
We offer the Apple Bramley as a rootstock M27, due to its vigorous growth. M27 is an extreme dwarfing rootstock that can be trained for containers, as a bush, pyramid, spindlebush, cordon and espalier. Plant with a spacing of 1.5m between the rows for best results in weed and grass free areas. When left unpruned it will reach heights of 2m in a 10 year period.
This lovely Apple tree holds an RHS Award of Garden Merit. Its heritage stems from Nottingham in the 19th century.
