Characteristics: Bushy, dwarf, evergreen shrub with silvery-grey leaves. Its fragrant, purple flowers feature at the top of unbranched stalks during its growing season. This variety is commonly used in cooking, adding tremendous flavour to many meals.
Growth & Spread: Ultimate height of 0.1 - 0.5m and an ultimate spread of 0.5 - 1m.
Period of Interest: Evergreen foliage provides year-round interest. Purple flowers will appear in Summer, providing a lovely colour and fragrance throughout.
Water & Maintenance: Plant this Lavandula in an area of full sunlight. It prefers being planted in sandy or chalky soil and should only be watered when the soil is dry to touch. Moderately water and fertilise the plant, always in moderation.
Lavandula angustifolia Hidcote, more commonly known as English Lavender, is a bushy, dwarf shrub. It has evergreen foliage, meaning it will maintain its lovely, silvery-grey leaves all-year-round. Lovely, purple flowers will join that in Summertime to add both colour and fragrance to the garden. The flowers will appear on unbranched stalks, giving it an upright stature that makes it very eye-catching. You can also use this variety in many of your favourite meals to add a delicious, sweet flavour to them.
It should always be placed in an area of full sunlight. Its soil should be either sandy or chalky and watered moderately. Using dry soil as a gauge for when to water the plant is advised as it doesn't need to remain moist at all times to survive. Fertilising the plant is also recommended, although always in moderation.
