Lavandula angustifolia Platinum Blonde is a new variety of Lavender noted for its variegated foliage that looks simply stunning in a sunny border. It features attractive and aromatic foliage backing showy blue flowers that will definitely win the appreciation of your garden visitors. Lavender plants are perfect for containers on a patio or edging in a rock garden. These hardy herbaceous perennials are grown for their aroma and culinary value.
The Lavender oil is a strong mosquito repellent and is also used in aromatherapy. Platinum Blonde features narrow grey-green leaves edged in yellow that appear very perky on a sunny day.
It blooms small blue flowers on dense spikes held tightly on arching branches, from mid-summer to late summer months. These abundant flowers combined with Platinum Blonde’s handsome foliage create a striking display of colours.
Lavender are sun-loving plants that will be happy planted in any sunny location in a garden. They will also enjoy some partial shade in the afternoon. Platinum Blonde Lavender is a hardy perennial although it might need some protection against frost in extremely cold winter. Cut back stalks after the flowering season or in early spring to give it a more compact look.
