Plant a classic pear tree in your garden – it is easy to grow and will offer loads of delicious fruit for eating and cooking. The Pear Conference is a hardy tree that will tolerate most conditions, including the cooler northern regions. The tree is self-fertile, which means that it will grow and offer fruit as a stand-alone tree and does not require another pear tree nearby to pollinate it. The heavy crops of pears are ready for picking in late September.

Conference pears are long and narrow in shape with an olive-green colour and a firm, juicy flesh with a sweet rosewater flavour. They are ideal for use in cooking. The pears are great in salads and pair fabulously with blue cheese and Prosciutto.

The tree has a columnar shape, making it ideal to plant in a smaller garden or limited space. In spring it offers lovely white flowers which attract insects, birds and butterflies, bringing movement, sound and interest to your living space.

Pyrus 'Conference' is one of the most reliable varieties of pear trees and holds an RHS Award of Garden Merit. If you are looking for an exceptional crop of pears and have a larger space, plant with another tree from the same flowering group near by. The 'Williams Bon Chretien' makes a great choice.

We offer Pyrus 'Conference' as a Quince A (semi-vigorous) rootstock. This is suitable for fans, cordons, bushes, central leaders, half-standards and espaliers. The tree will reach heights of 3-3.5m in a 10 year period if left unpruned.
