Characteristics: A deciduous climbing shrub with masses of striking purple flowers blooming in summer.
Growth and Spread: Ultimate height of up to 1.5m and spread of up to 1m.
Care and Maintenance: Plant in moist but well-drained soil in a spot with full sun or partial shade. Prune to ground level towards the end of autumn to prepare for fresh growth the following spring.
Period of Interest: Green foliage in spring. Flowers in summer, lasting through to early autumn.
Top Tip: Deadhead spent flowers to encourage further blooms.
This hardy perennial is easy to care for and creates an eye-catching display throughout summer and early autumn. Its climbing nature makes Clematis Ashva ideal for growing up trellises or obelisks. It can also be used to add colour to a wall or fence and does well in pots or containers.
The foliage is lush and compact with vibrant oval green leaves. Ruffled violet-purple flowers bloom from June to September with distinctive red bars along the length of each petal.
With the exception of regular watering, Clematis Ashva are low maintenance garden plants that are easy to care for. The do get thirsty so it’s important to keep them hydrated, particularly when planted in pots or containers.

Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.
